FAQ

When will my order arrive?

We are working to get as many orders out the door as quickly as we process them. Because a lot of our items involve production at our kitchen, we can’t offer this service ‘on demand’. We plan our routes at 10am each morning, so any orders received before 10am will be included in our daily route. If you order at 7am, for example, your order should arrive that same day. If you order at 9pm, for example, your order will arrive the following day. We use a routing system that will send you a text message the morning of your delivery so that you can track our delivery driver live and see when he’s approaching your home!

We deliver every single day except Sunday – so orders placed after 10am on Saturday through 10am on Monday morning will be delivered on Monday.

I accidentally chose Pick-Up but I wanted Delivery. What do I do now?

We have two options on our check-out page. When your zip code is within our delivery range, both options will appear. When you are outside our delivery range, only the pick-up option at our Fairfax kitchen will appear. If you need to cancel your order for this reason, please email us and we will gladly issue a refund. 

Is gratuity included in your delivery fee?

Our delivery fee is separate from any tip you’d like to leave for our team. During this time, tips are highly appreciated as our staff is working reduced hours. We have a tip pool for our kitchen staff, team members, and delivery drivers. You’ll be able to include gratuity in the check-out page.

What areas do you deliver to?

We are currently delivering to all of DC, parts of Maryland, and Northern Virginia. For a complete list of the cities we deliver to, click here

Are the proteins delivered warm?

No. The food we are delivering will be delivered cold for preparation at home. Our meats go really well with rice, mashed potatoes, or even a salad – you don’t need to eat them with an arepa necessarily – although that’s our favorite way!

What if I want a warm arepa, cachapa, empanadas, or tequeños?

You can still order take-out or delivery through one of our delivery partners. We have not discontinued our delivery from the restaurant – our packaged food home delivery service is a new service we are offering given the COVID-19 circumstances. To order for delivery or take-out of our restaurant items, please click here. By the way, we normally serve empanadas until noon only at our 14th Street location, but we’re now serving them ALL DAY.

Are the proteins delivered warm?

How do we prepare the ready-to-cook arepas?

You can prepare our arepas by placing them in a lightly-oiled skillet for about 6-8 minutes per side. You can also place them in a small toaster oven  at 350 degrees for 15-20 mins.

Can your frozen tequeños be cooked in the oven?

Our tequeños can be fried or baked. We will provide baking instructions with your box. Our favorite and most practical way of cooking them is with an air fryer!

Are your meats gluten-free?

Yes, our meats (and arepas) are all gluten-free!

I am interested in your products but you don’t deliver to my city - can I still order?

If you’re in the area but perhaps a bit too far for our home delivery service, you can pick up your order at our catering kitchen in Fairfax, Virginia, located at 3160 Spring Street, Unit B, Fairfax, Virginia 22031. If that’s too far, you can order through our sister company Antojitos de tu Pais and we will ship your order in an insulated container via UPS. 

My order arrived but was missing an item. What do I do?

We’re so sorry this happened. Although we do our very best to double check everything that leaves our doors, we do package everything manually and there is always a chance for some human error. Please email us at info@arepazone.com and let us know. We will do our best to accommodate your request – whether that is re-delivering the item that was missing on the following day’s route, or refunding you for that item.
